ABC’s Kaitlin Olson Drama ‘High Potential’ Gets New Showrunner 5

One of ABC‘s two new scripted series for fall has hired a new showrunner.

Todd Harthan, a veteran of Fox’s medical drama The Resident, has joined the network’s High Potential as showrunner. He takes over the post from Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars), who exited the show earlier in June. The series is currently on a planned production hiatus and is scheduled to resume filming in July.

Created by Drew Goddard and based on a French series, High Potential stars Kaitlin Olson as a single mother who works as an office clearner and helps crack a seemingly unsolvable case when she rearranges evidence during her shift at a police precinct. Thanks to her exceptional mind, she’s partnered with a detective (Daniel Sunjata) to work on other cases. Javicia Leslie, Deniz Akdeniz, Amirah J, Matthew Lamb and Judy Reyes also star.

The show is slated to run on Tuesday nights in the fall; it and the Ryan Murphy-produced Dr. Odyssey are the network’s only two first-year scripted series in ABC’s fall lineup.

ABC Signature produces High Potential. Harthan will executive produce with Goddard and Sarah Esberg of Goddard Textiles; Pierre Laugier and Anthony Lancret of Itinéraire Productions, a UGC company; Jean Nainchrik of Septembre Productions, a Mediawan Company. Olson is a producer.

In addition to The Resident, Harthan has worked as a writer and producer on ABC’s The Company You Keep, Fox’s Rosewood and USA Network’s Psych. He is repped by UTA, Circle Management + Production and Yorn Levine.
