Fox News Plans Trump VP Apprentice Interview Series on Fox & Friends 5

Think of it as a Vice Presidential edition of The Apprentice.

Fox News on Wednesday will kick off a series in which its Fox & Friends co-hosts interview people who are on the short list to be former President Donald Trump’s VP picks.

Fox says that Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum have committed so far.

The series will be structured as two-parters, with the first half focusing on policy, as well as “why they would be the best candidate and what their top priorities would be if chosen as the vice-presidential pick.” The second half would see them joined by the spouses (or in the case of Scott, his fiancée) to discuss their personal qualities. The series will run on Fox & Friends, the channel’s morning show.

Vance will kick things off on Wednesday June 26, with Lawrence Jones interviewing him and his wife Usha Vance in Cincinnati, Ohio. Scott will follow on June 27 with Ainsley Earhardt interviewing him and his fiancée Mindy Noce in Charleston, in the church where they met. Burgum and his wife Kathryn will be interviewed on Monday July 1 by Brian Kilmeade in North Dakota.

There is, however, a risk to the series. Trump has indicated that he may bring his VP pick to Thursday’s debate with President Biden, which will be hosted by CNN (though it will simulcast on most other news networks, including on Fox News). Should the VP pick leak ahead of time, or if the pick is made and it isn’t Burgum, the Fox series could be thrown for a loop.

Elsewhere on the Fox News schedule, the cable news channel said Tuesday that its 10 p.m. show Gutfeld would move to 11 p.m. during the Republican national Convention next month, putting it in more direct competition to late night shows like The Daily Show, and The Late Show.
